UPDATE: Marshfield Police clear scene at campus, no threat found - WAOW

UPDATE (7:54 PM) -- The Marshfield Police Department is clearing the scene at the UWSP-Marshfield Campus and no threat has been found.

Police say two students encountered a man at the campus they believed to be disoriented and had a gun in his pocket.

However, police were able to locate the man and say the man did not have a gun and was just looking for directions.

UPDATE (7:05PM) -- Marshfield Police Chief Rick Gramza has confirmed they are searching for an elderly man who appeared to be disoriented and was allegedly seen with a gun protruding from his jacket.

The Chief continued by saying the UWSP-Marshfield campus is large to search room-by-room and maintain a perimeter, and has few cameras to help them do so remotely.

They are continuing to search and ask the public to remain away from the campus.

UPDATE (6:30PM) -- Marshfield Police Chief Rick Gramza has provided more information in the ongoing police presence at the UWSP-Marshfield campus.

According to Chief Gramza, a student alerted a professor after allegedly seeing a person armed with a handgun in one of the campus building's stairwells. That professor then called 911.

Police currently have a perimeter set around the school and will be doing a full search. The suspect has not yet been found.
