MANHATTAN, Kan. (WIBW) - The City of Manhattan has approved plans for Improvements to the College, Kimball, and Denison Avenues area at the northern edge of Kansas State University, being called the North Campus Corridor Project.
These improvements are intended to assist with traffic flow through the area, as well as, add more pedestrian friendly sidewalks to the area.
Other improvements to the area include a drop off area, and medians down the centers of the streets to help avoid head-on collisions.
The City of Manhattan will start work on this project in spring of 2020 and the project is expected to take about a year to complete.
City officials will work closely with Kansas State Athletics during sporting activities that will bring high traffic volume to the work zones.
“It’s an opportunity for us to really accentuate a gateway to K-State, but as well as help support our National Agro Bio Defense facility, and other Research Park businesses that we have coming to Manhattan.” City of Manhattan, Assistant City Manager, Dennis Marstall says.
City of Manhattan Staff along with elected officials will discuss funding options for this project at the January 14th work session.
