Plano business campus sells to Dallas developer - The Dallas Morning News

A big Plano business campus has sold to a Dallas developer.

Furniture and appliance retailer Rent-A-Center’s corporate headquarters in the Legacy business park has been on the market since mid 2019.

The 168,605-square-foot office complex is on Headquarters Drive east of the Dallas North Tollway.

A partnership formed by Dallas developer Cawley Partners purchased the 17-acre campus, which includes four acres for additional development

Built in 2007, the three-story office building was marketed for sale by commercial property firm CBRE.

Rent-A-Center plans to lease back about half of the building for 10 years after the sale.

The campus has a fitness center, an employee dining area, a lounge and an outdoor courtyard.

Cawley Partners is already building a new office project near the Rent-A-Center campus.

Called HQ53, the 200,000-square-foot office building is on Headquarters Drive just west of Preston Road.

Cawley Partners also plans to build the 15-story high-rise on Legacy Drive in the Campus at Legacy West development. The 300,000-square-foot speculative office project at 6333 Legacy will be constructed on part of the old J.C. Penney headquarters site.

In mid 2018, Cawley Partners purchased the Parkside on Legacy, a 101,213-square-foot, 3-story office building at 5120 Legacy Drive west of Preston Road.

The nearby Keurig Dr Pepper campus is also for sale. The beverage maker plans to move out of the 262,000-square-foot office center when its new building is finished in Frisco in 2021.

The Rent-A-Center office campus is the second big Plano business center to trade in the last month.

Dallas’ Champion Partners purchased the Keurig Dr Pepper 262,000-square-foot office campus in Legacy business park. The beverage company will continue to occupy the buildings until its new Texas headquarters in Frisco opens in 2021.
